FOREWORD

This simple handbook is intended for the Beekeeper willing to raise his apiary yield while facing the difficulty of putting into practice the general principles expounded, very often in a general way, in beekeeping treatise. Her he will find those pratical suggestions which determine the success of bee operations and also the reference notes to theoretical principles.
The execution of each of the methods suggested, some of wich quite original, is developed according to a protocol divided like this :
        - Pourpose of the operation
        - Starting situation
        - Occurring Material
        - Mode of execution
        - Final result
        - Notes
The operator is instructed to program, at home end quite in advance, the operations he intends to do in the apiary, as from the predisposition of the material needed; he also can find all the indications wich allow him to verify the good result of the operation done.
I'm glad to publish some procedures widely experimented in Sicily at the foot of mount Erice around which I move my apiar, exploiting the different micro climates originating from the difference in the position and altitude. Working with very short time and space at my disposal, I have never liked to run "dedicated" apiaries in separate place, whereas I have managed to use very simple and quick methods within the same apiary, modifying to my use very popular knowledge and methods, by reducing to the minimum the number of moves and reshuffles. The result is
"FIVE VERY EASY METHODS"
for the formation of atificial swarms. The methods follow an operative logic which reflects the seasonal development of the bee activity. As we all know, the beginning of a new bee season coincides with the end of the summer harvest, when those operations are underway which are the prelude for the coming yielding season.

CONTENTS:

The simple operations described here are within the reach of anybody who can get some queen cells or queens, using one of the many methods which can be found in all the most recent literature on the subject; the use of fertile queens quickens the growing of swarms.
The handbook is supplied exclusively on computer via Internet or Mailing.
I hope somebody may take advantage of my hints.
Vincenzo Stampa.
